A simple, classic French onion dip made with new sour cream and toasted minced onions.

Notes

Letting the dip rest in the refrigerator is necessary to allow the onions to rehydrate and release their flavor and natural sweetness.

I keep a jar of toasted dried minced onions with my spices. They are also great on a variety of grain bowls.

Ingredients

  • 1 batch new sour cream (about 1 1/4 cup)
  • 4 tsp dried minced onions, toasted
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. If needed, toast dried minced onions in a skillet over medium heat until just browned and immediately move them to a plate to cool.
  2. Whisk together sour cream, toasted onions, and sea salt to taste.
  3. Transfer to a storage container and refrigerate to allow flavors to meld.
  4. Stir again before serving.

Makes 1 batch, about 1 1/4 cups
