Pizza Sauce
A quick, no-fuss pizza sauce.
6 oz
tomato paste
6 oz
water
1 1/2 tsp
Italian seasoning
1 tsp
dried minced garlic
10 cranks
coarsely ground black pepper ( 1/4 tsp)
a
couple pinches celery seeds
1 1/2 tsp
maple syrup
- In a mixing bowl, slowly whisk water into the tomato paste to avoid splashing.
- Whisk in the remaining ingredients until smooth and evenly seasoned.
Makes Makes about 1 1/2 cups

Pizza chain sauces often use more sugar; to approximate that flavor, increase the maple syrup slightly. Crushed red pepper, fresh basil, or sauteed mushrooms are great additions.
